Wildlife Rehabbing... Posted by Scott Paterson [Email] (#13) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Scott Paterson) on Wed, 20 Aug 2003 11:11:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've seriously got to shed some of my hobbies.. they are interferring with my Saab hobby. Anyone else do wildlife rehab? Here's the two squirrels I'm working on currently (through Wildlife Rescue on Palo Alto CA/CA Dept of Fish and Game). They were cut out of a tree by an aborist (by accident) and weighed in 15 days ago at under two ounces (49 grams). They hit 115 grams yesterday. Eyes should be opening any day now. I've got a 100% success rate with the squirrels. I've also raised a litter of 12 Opossums - wow was that hard - 8 feedings a day and unlike the squirrels who learn quickly how to suck on a syringe with a rubber nipple, you have to feed the Opossums by intubation directly to the stomach for a long time!

p.s. And yes, at about 500 grams, they are ready for the grill (just kidding, but someone was going to say it - they always do! ;-))
