I actually got reacquainted with Saabs (my uncle had a stable of 'em) when my roommate bought a shiny new 97 900SET after sealing his new job. I was there from 94-97, and seem to remember there being an incredible number of 900 turbos around - I'm guessing the turbo was needed to get the hell out of town ASAP, because it could get pretty miserable. Man, that campus had a way of looking spectacular in the springtime to lure in the fresh meat, and then freezing everything miserably solid for what seemed like the rest of the year. Neither my little rwd 240sx nor my southern california frame of reference were of any assistance come time to drive uphill in January. I did become very adept at drifting through the corners, though.
After 1L, I actually lived down the hill in collegetown, right across from a Volvo mechanic shop - near the big greek church and the deli with the Ithaca Cheese Steaks. Plenty of volvos in town as well.
On the bright side, it gave me an appreciation for both warmer weather and Saabs, which probably explains my present situation.
