Seems to me that hydrolock would happen within a couple of revolutions of the engine. Hard to imagine water being in the cylinders after a few seconds of continued running. If it kept running without pieces of connecting rods flying out thru the grille, you're probably OK. But it's worth a real good inspection.
Definitely check the oil like everyone says, or just change it even if it looks OK. That's cheap compared to the damage it might cause. But I'm guessing the noise is from something disconnected. Look at intercooler hoses? Maybe a loose connection in the exhaust somewhere? Maybe even as simple as something shifted and your exhaust is hitting somewhere?
