Taylor,

Here's what's going on.
1. The wired jacks in your router support Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps).
2. The wireless feature of the router is one or more of 802.11 A, B, or G.
"A" runs at 54 Mbps using the 5 GHz radio spectrum.
"B" runs at 11 Mbps using the 2.4 GHz radio spectrum.
"G" runs at 54 Mbps using the 5 GHz radio spectrum.
3. The wireless speed drops off as you increase the distance between you and the Access Point (what you called the router) or add barriers like walls, floors, furniture and people between you and the AP.
4. The effective throughput of the wireless link is approximately half of the rated speed. That is, when your computer says that it's getting an 11 Mbps signal, you can transfer no more than about 5.5 Mbps. (The rest is lost to 802.11 and other protocol overhead, retransmission, etc.
5. An 802.11g network will effectively switch to 802.11b when in the presence of other active 802.11b devices. If your computer and Access Point use 802.11g (up to 54 Mbps) and you operate your network within radio distance of an 802.11b (up to 11 Mbps) network (that's about 200-800 feet), your network will slow to almost 11 Mbps.

However, all of this is likely irrelevant because your Comcast cable modem is substantially slower than the wireless links. As such, the slower wireless link does not slow down your web browsing or other Internet access because the cable modem is the real bottleneck. (Your ability to communicate with the other wired users on your network is adversely impacted by the wireless link because even the best 802.11 signal is significantly slower than the 100 Mbps wired speed.)
