Yeah yeah, AWD can be a lot of hype. I can certainly pilot a FWD car through snow with the best of them so its not all about driving ability, but for those of us in 'real' snowy climates (like VT, NH, ME, Rockies, Sierras...not Westchester or Boston), there are a lot of times when AWD just simply rules. My SAAB is great in the snow, but there are times when it won't quite do what I could do in my hopelessly underpowered '88 subaru wagon (which had low range 4wd!).

And, Saab product development seems to be frustratingly slow. EVERYONE has AWD models these days. Volvo, Audi, Subaru, plus all the damn SUVs out there. How long have we been hearing about this 9-3X concept? The 9-5 is too big, and way too expensive for me and a lot of others, and the 9-3 has no hatch now, and no AWD. The 9-2 will be slightly too small, and why pay more for a Subaru with a Saab badge?
