matt 94 aero posted the original thread a few days ago. Summary: an auction on eBay for a custom Mitsubishi Evo ended at $26k. The dealer refused to do the deal at that price, claiming they sold the car to someone else for $33k, IIRC. I believe they list for close to $40k, but this was a demo car. Anyway, the winning bidder posted his plight on the sight below, and it exploded into what has to be the longest single thread in Internet history. 136 pages of posts! I submitted it to the Guinness Book of World Records for consieration! That would be pretty cool if they included it in the book.
I checked back on the thread tonight: the dealership gave in, and they sold him the car at the auction price! Apparently the thread was linked on hundreds of similar forums, and members bombarded the dealership with phone calls and e-mails (1400 in one day, I believe).
Under contract law, the dealership was liable, anyway. They would have lost in court. It's nice to see it did not have to come to that.
