Actually, the 9-5 Aero didn't get decent seats until 2002... They're still not the legendary seats of the 9K Aero series, but they (the 2002 or better 9-5 Aeros) have **far** better lateral support than the pre-2002 versions (I own both a 2001 and a 2003 9-5 Aero, and previously owned (simultaneously) a '94 9K Aero and a '95 9K CSE Turbo (which had the Aero engine, but not the cool Aero seats). btw, my husband reports that he finds the 2003 Aero seats more comfortable that then 9K Aero's. He's quite broad-shouldered and found the 9K seats constraining when trying to look over his shoulder when merging with traffic..
