there is a saving grace I guess with older Saabs, and is the (quite cheap) parts dealers advertised on this site. If you can find a Indy that will install parts that you purchase separately you're set.
For example, my indy said I should think very hard about getting a radiator from him, as he has to get it from the dealer which is 200km away. He quoted me 1500CAD for a 1988 radiator (verified when I called the dealer). THe long and short of it is that he told me to try to find a cheaper alternative. the Saab OEM rad at EEuroparts.com was $169USD.
just an example....but then you must find an indy that fixes saabs...not easy where I live (there is just one, and he's a MErc Master tech!...but he is good, and has Saab shop manuals, and several years doing them)
