Seems high for cruise on level ground. You can calculate this using the magic of thermodynamics. You need the heat of combustion, specific heat of air, manifold pressure (to calculate the amount of charge), a swag of the intial combustion temperature, and an estimate of the energy extracted during the expansion. (The energy put in during compression will cancel out if you base the energy extracted on net flywheel power). Assume an adiabatic expansion as the piston drops, estimate the cylinder pressure and exhaust manifold pressure for the throttled expansion through the exhaust valves, apply the gas laws, and there you have it! Just plug in the numbers (an exercise left to the user). That puts an upper bound on exhaust temperature, since we KNOW that a substantial portion of the heat goes into the cooling system...In fact, a better estimate is to assume half the waste heat actually went to the cooling system and adjust the calculated exhaust temperature accordingly.
