I took my 2000 9-3 SE to a body shop that I had used for other mishaps w/previous vehicles, and they did the ding removal, etc., but they still ended up replacing the hood (it was not cost effective to remove all of the dings versus buying another hood, painting and installing it) and almost replaced the hatch, but they got the problem ding out of it. Mine ended up being about $2,800 total and I did not get other quotes only because I was familiar with this shops workmanship and knew it would be completed satisfactorily (sic?).

Get several quotes if you don't have a good shop you're familar with, and make sure they guarantee the repairs. Approved Gieco shops might be a place to start.
