In August I was driving on a suspended license and got hit by another unlicensed/uninsured driver who was going the worng was on a one way road. Police report said the other guy was at fault, and I was awarded insurance money (crazy, I know!). A week later I moved 8 hours away for school.
Well, soon enough, the DMV decided to take my license away for one year, until Dec. 4th 2004, to be exact.
Today I got a letter saying I have to go to court on the 5th of next month (only ten days warning). I called the Court and an 'official' spoke with me as I explained that I live hours away and have no transportation (due to the 'incident' I'm now being cited for), and therefore, cannot meet my court date. She said I could postpone it for up to one week, even though I told her I won't be back until I move back home this January.
In short, she told me to be prepared to deal with the warrant out for my arrest when I fail to appear in court, then promptly hung up the phone while I was in mid-sentence!
Question is, is there any way to reason with 'officials' like this? I will gladly go to court and presumably pay the fine, but it is physically impossible right now. And if there's no way to avoid the warrant, will they arrest me when I finally do show up to court, in January?!

Sorry for the rant, it ran a bit longer than expected. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks, and lesson of the day is: DON'T DRIVE ON A SUSPENDED LICENSE!!!!
