Have you sat in a new 9-3? From what others have said here, there is more room for the driver in the 9-3 than in the 9-5. If it doesn't fit, though, it doesn't fit...
I personally don't like the look of the Acuras, but I'm sure most Acura drivers think my Saab is ugly, so if you like it, drive it. I'd also look at the G35, and...what the heck, an Audi and a BMW. Subaru has been making some good cars recently, so drive the Legacy too. And an IS300, and maybe even the Lincoln LS? I also like the Mazda Protege5, which will be replaced by the Mazda3, although it's a bit smaller.
I think shopping for cars is great fun...go drive them all, and see what's comfortable and what's fun.
