I recently traded some tech work for a Hiptop/Sidekick and am totally thrilled. It's basically, for me, a laptop with a full QWERTY keyboard, that is smaller than the size of a regular index car (much thicker, of course). The other day I was riding in my sister's new 9-3SS (thanks in part to Mike helping us find her the right car) while I was browsing the TSN bulletin boards and chatting it up on TSN chat. Images were crisp and clear because the screen is the entire top of the device and does a nifty swivel to reveal the keyboard which you don't need while reading. It includes an AOL instant messaging client, email, address book (you enter it either via a web browser app and it auto syncs wirelessly to your device or you enter it in the device which again syncs it to your web apps), calender/meeting-datebook, a couple games, camera, calculator, clock app/timer/alarm, and most importantly for me, a secure telnet (SSH) application which allows me to log into the TSN server and do administration work whereever I am. Oh yeah, the screen is in color too. It's too much fun and was only $19.99 via Amazon after rebate. Oh, it's got a phone too, but I didn't really need that so I took the unlimited data plan at $20/mo. (although I could still use the phone if I needed to).
