I think the problem has been fixed (don't know why or how, though!). I called a shop in the Seattle area. The guy I spoke with explained that one of the preferred ways to begin diagnosing a problem is to first reset the computer by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a few minutes. he explained that the car constantly adapts and it may have adapted to running with a vacuum leak that is no longer there- i.e. the detailer may have knocked a hose loose, the car adapts, then the hose is put back on. I reset the computer as instructed and the car fired up and ran at 1000rpm. Some time had passed, and the temp gauge read cold so who knows what it could have been...I'm just glad the car is running well as I've spent $1700 on her already this month! Thanks Bruce, Jason and Chrystobal for taking an interest and offering your suggestions. -Jay
