I've been saluted by a couple of left lane bandits lately. Flashing lights is not as effective as it could be with DRL's. I admit I haven't tried honking the horn. My friend's techinique is to drop back a bit and then to accelerate right up against the bandit hoping that they'll notice your approach and consider moving over.
What do you suppose goes through their minds when the bandit jabs his brakes at you? What is it that violates common courtesy and common sense about pulling over for faster traffic? Why do the bandits want you to pull around them and then after you have, some little light goes on somewhere and you notice in your rear view that they have finally pulled over?
When the bandit doesn't pull over my technique is pass without much room, if any, when merging back into the fast lane. Hope I never get seen pulling that stunt.
