Engine temp more important than ambient temp

I watch the temp gauge, whether it's July or January. Until engine temp is up into the normal operating range, I accelerate gently shift I suppose around 3k. When the engines into normal op temp range I tend to take it up to 4k frequently, and 5,500-6k if really playing. I tend to not "play" as much in the colder weather only because I'm running snows, the roads aren't as predictable and I'm just not in that mindset. But it shouldn't hurt the engine to spool it up to 6k even in bitter cold weather as long as the engine temp it up. If the engine's warm, it's warm... I don't think it cares how cold it is outside.
