But if it's a marketing thing -- and I agree that it is -- then what is the consumer need that GM is targeting with it's offerings in Europe -- and especially with the Caddy? Are any of their products superior value to what is already available? Do GM's North American corporate culture and products understand Europe's many cultures? Etc, etc.

If this is a marketing exercise, I have to think it's going to be a case study of a failed effort. The reason the North American market was open and accepting of the Japanese and European products is because they met needs -- like value and quality -- that GM, Ford, and Chryco weren't delivering.

Watering down a once excellent and proud European brand like Saab with yet another effort by Cadilac at a Euro car is not going to cut it in Europe -- or here.
