This topic has already been discussed below, but what I said on that thread bears repeating for those short-sighted types who have no idea about market competition. What Caddy is trying to do in Europe is "Market Competition 101" folks.
Selling 800 cars in Europe ain't gonna' cut it for Caddy. They must build products that Europeans want. Using SAAB to get there is a good thing.
You must attack your competitors (BMW, MB, Audi, Jag etc) in their domestic/home markets so they have to expend more of their own resources there to retain their local market share. That also means they have less resources to expend HERE in the US, thus helping GM's domestic market share.
Seems to have worked pretty well for the Europeans and Japanese in the US don't you think? The US domestic makes have seen their US market share dwindle significantly over the years because of this tactic - foreign competitors attacking here in the US and thus keeping GM, Ford, Crysler focused on retaining the US market and NOT taking over Europe or Japan.
Don't you people get it?
