Well, thanks to everybody for their thoughts. I'll delay the final decision when I'm there, but you saied me what I wanted to hear. I was afraid you could tell me "don't buy American, those underpowered cars are easy to break and difficult to repair, and expensive to buy", but you told me the opposite :-)
So I think I'll be looking for a "boat"....
The fact that dealers can do all the paperwork for you is a good bargain, and I saw some pretty good deals on a site I can't quote here by used cars sellers, so...I'll consider them too.
Nobody here mentioned Cadillacs, the deal I found was on a '86 Deville at $1900 in perfect conditions, seemed good to me, is it a boat or a Caprice is larger? also the Lincoln Mark VII seem pretty "American"
Thanks to all, if any has other thoughts, I'll be happy to read them.
Stefano
