compared to Xbox and especially compared to newer PCs? Even last years gaming PC can run games with details and resolutions that is far beyond the PS2. The claimed 128 bit CPU in the PS2 is misleading, as the processor is NOT 128 bit. It's just the memory bus that is 128 bit. This has been around for some time, and actually most PCs have a 128 bit memory interface between CPU and system RAM. Current graphics cards have 256 bit interface between the GPU and onboard RAM.

For me the only reason for buying a console would be the Gran Tourismo series, so I'd get a PS2 if I had to choose. But it's still slower than an Xbox.

PS: The Xbox doesn't have a graphics card, it has an onboard graphics chipset. Also, a dedicated graphics chipset/card is far superior to using the CPU for all the graphics calculations. The development of computer game graphics has progressed from graphics cards being little more than an adapter for the monitor connection, to being one of, if not the most expensive and complex pieces of hardware in a computer.
