If you already have XP installed, go into the BIOS at startup and change your boot sequence so that your CD is ahead of your Hard Drive (HDD) in the boot sequence... floppy doesn't matter as long as its empty on bootup.. just make sure the CDROM is shown ahead of the HDD.. then be sure to SAVE your setting...
Then when you boot from the WinXP cd to install, it should prompt you as to whether or not you wish to FORMAT..(using NTSF or FAT32). It will also give you the option of a full or quick format as well ... And obviously FULL is what you are looking for...
