My best saab story was driving cross country in my 1990 SPG in 1997. Long story short-Started in Las Vegas and through Utah no problem. Upon entering Grand Junction CO, we hit a blizzard. Normally a three hour ride from GJ to Denver, it took us ten hours! I think the pass was called Devil's Pass and all the semi's pulling over to put chains on their tires should of been a good indication of the carnage to follow. Rolled U-haul trucks, people being cut out of their cars and the freeway scattered with broken down cars was all pretty sureal.
Well, the spg loaded to gills ran like a champ and we were able to follow some four by fours in a lane created by them. Ten Hours later, we were stuck in downtown denver for three days due to the highways being closed.
Honestly, I never have been so scared in mother nature and I consider myself lucky to have survived such an ordeal.
