Though I can't give you a head to head Saab comparison unfortunately as the Blizzaks on our Audi quattro, I will say the improvement over the stock Goodyear RSA Eagles in the snow and ice is unbelievable, and the difference in dry/wet traction is negligible. The snow/ice traction is incredible. Though I havn't had any other winter tires on this car, so other snow tires might treat you just as well, but I just wanted to pass along my experiences. Congrats on making the move the snow tires in general whatever brand you decide upon--you should be happy with many of the choices, but I personally can highly recommend the Blizzaks.

Which Blizzaks is the question. Mine are the LM-22 model which give up a tiny bit of serious snow/ice traction (though I've never been stuck/slipped at all) for a big increase in dry/wet traction. And they are supposed to last much longer (and so far I have no reasons to doubt as they still look brand new after about 6,000 miles) than the more common WS-50 Blizzaks which are apparently for a little more extreme snow/ice traction, yet they wear more quickly, and give up a lot of dry/wet performance.

You do of course pay a little more $ for these benefits of the LM-22, I paid $650 for a set of 4 mounted/balanced on black steel wheels from tire rack. But I think it's worth it for the longer tread life and incredible performance/safety advantage. Yes, the price is getting up there, but where better to spend your money than on tires? I like having the peace of mind that comes with the extra level of safety, and if they help you avoid just one accident, they can more than pay for themselves just like that. That's the way I think about it at least.
