I recently received apost card offer from Saab to extend my warranty for 4 years or 48,000 miles. I was at 99,950+ miles at the time I called and was told the upper limit for coverage to begin was 100,000 miles. I would have had to buy it that afternoon before driving home as my trip home would have put me over the magic number.
Admittedly, I have owned this car since new; but I never extended the factory warranty past the 50,000 mile point! If I had purchased this warranty plan my car would have gone from 50,000 miles to 99,950+ miles with no warranty, then warranty coverage again until 148,000 miles. I was surprised to discover anyone (and I believe this was coming from Saab) would offer such a plan. The intermediate 50,000 miles of no coverage is ample time to lots of problems to occur (didn't, but could have) that an owner would wait to have repaired until they purchased a new warranty plan.
In short, it smelled "fishy", so I didn't bite. Plus the cost was $2,000 for what would only be 24 mionths of coverage with my driving needs. I dug through my "papers" but can't find the post card, otherwise I would have given you the toll-free number.
