The "City" is one of the great places in the world.
My favorite all time restaurant in the world is the Tadich Grill, 240 California St., at the foot of California St, almost to where the trolley turntable is at the end of the line in the financial district. I love the seafood and the very old world charm. No reservations taken, get inside the door before 8:00, or pounce on a counter seat. The staff has been there forever, the place has been there forever, very traditional.
Wine Country. Napa is easier to negotiate for tourists, therefore I prefer Sonoma, and my friends live in Santa Rosa which is in Sonoma. Take Hwy 101 north and follow the Russian River to the sea up to Bodega Bay or maybe all the way to Fort Ross, the southern most Russian fort.
