After hearing the horror stories from a co-worker when I told him I had just put a deposit down on a 128, I rushed back and canceled the deal. No argument from the sales man. Bob, my buddy, had just gotten rid of a 'spyder' (sp) after waiting a month for a broken clutch pedal. The pedal arm had snapped, and was the last of many minor but dealer part only fixes the car req'd.
The next week I went and bought a Plymouth Volare. Soon to become the most recalled car in history. One recall was for rust on the front fenders, which were replaced gratis. What they didn't replace was the rear fenders which rotted out shortly thereafter, or the paint which started coming off in sheets. Replacing the carb was part of a yearly tune up. But I did get to the point where I could replace a holley carb ($45) in under 20 mins. =}
