But you want a Treo!
T-Mobile might work okay for you depending on where you are. Ask friends in your area who have T-Mobile how the reception is.
T-Mo has been my carrier since '99 (back in the Omnipoint days) because I love GSM phones and I also roam internationally. But out in the boonies you will have no analog fallback. I have OnStar (Verizon analog) in my car for these few times I'm out in the sticks, so no big deal.
Cingular largely uses the T-Mobile network in NY but I heard Cingular has poor customer service.
AT&T is new to the GSM scene, and so right now they don't have as many GSM cell sites as T-Mobile. I believe AT&T data services are expensive (per MB), whereas T-Mo has unlimited data! Friend of mine recently dumped his AT&T GSM cell phone in favor of Verizon Wireless.
No experience with Sprint but the people I know who use Sprint are generally satisfied.
