Hey, if there's gonna be an SUV, I figure the move is to roll with the punches, to have fun with it. It's a done deal, for better or worse. SO, I was thinking, the GM parts bin is rather deep, and its aftermarket rather wide.

Thus I offer for your consideration, pure mind candy, the 9-7X Aero. It would be frighteningly easy to build:

4.2L supercharged (400-450HP), you can buy kits that do this now
4L60E trans takes the power like a man, so that can stay OR
GM has a ZF 6-speed stick that should drop in...the Allison 5-speed auto may be overkill
Lowered suspension, bigger brakes (bigger than the bigger ones Saab hung on it)
Extra gauge pod to hold the boost gauge, and maybe something scary like EGT
Aero Sport seats from the Aero and other interiot zoot to suit
Perhaps a tasteful hood scoop to harken the other badge offering (9-2X)

"We're having a Swedish picnic...we're eating an X5 for lunch!"

Best part is most of these parts are on the shelf, so it shouldn't be an issue. Consider its nature...it's for the American market, so the Aero version should excel within American criteria: sheer brute, ugly American muscle...and number of cupholders.
