to be fair. I have a similar beef with Michigan and my oldest son's 2002 & 2003 income earned 100% in Florida (which has zero income tax) while a student there. Although Michigan penalizes my son by denying him State Scholarships because he attended college out of state, they insist on being paid taxes on all income he earned while out of state. Year-round continuous residency in Florida (proven by lease, utility bills and W-2 statements) makes no difference to them. His permanent address while a student was shown as Michigan because I live here, so they demand their paltry $200.
Taxes bite.
