Palm change of ownership

With my wife purchasing a Palm Tunsten T3 and my Palm 505 run out of memory space I tried to use her 505 as a secondary set for myself. I changed on her old set the user name and password but the set persists in hotsyncing to her name. Have I missed a step, or do I have to "Hard reset" and start from scratch including inserting the initial CD . Please give advice if you know. Thanks.
