Some Thoughts. . . I think that Saab will do fine. As long as GM allows Saab engineers to design, in a large way, the cars that are Saabs, things will be fine. I think that the 9-2X will be a decent Saab (It's built on a fine car...and time will tell if it's "nice" enough to fit the Saab brand) and the 9-7X I don't know about.
I think that Fords involvement with Volvo is a great example of what can be done when an american car company gets their hands into a small, nitche, euro car company. Volvo has really broken out of its old stereotype without loosing its identity...and their cars are truly fine pieces of work.
I look forward to the future of Saab...as long as GM lets it maintain its character.
I own a Saab because its fun, safe, super fast (9000 Aero), economical (30+ mpg on the hwy), practical (I can get two bikes INSIDE the car), and has a whole lot of character. (I wish it had AWD)
Happy Saabin'
