Just bear with me for a sec here ... (and i'm using metric numbers -- you can convert to imperial if you wish :)

Locally (Greater Toronto Area) the Gas just went up about a dime to $0.92/litre for regular (add another dime or so for premium) from $0.84

Now on my '93 C900, *IF* I run the tank dry in city driving, that will get me about 500km (I track tank fillups with the trip meter).

In doing so, I will need about 60 litres to fill it (it's a 62 litre tank, I've put as much as 58 litres in it so i'll round to keep easy numbers).

So 60 litres at dime litre ... taht's a $6.00 difference on each fill up.

Now when I was commuting to work by car, I was putting on about 150km/day. Or about 1.5 tanks of gas per week (including weekend errands).

So 500km of city driving will go quite a few weeks. Even if I was still commuting by car, this latest rise in price would cost me an extra $40/month. Not really that much when I consider how much I'm using the car.

Now the people who work for the trucking companies, the courier companies .. I can certainly understand them to be complaining ... But most of the people I see complaining are the peopel who only put in $5-10 at a time. Which is really a negligible cost difference.

(FWIW .. it costs me about $45 for 60 litres of Sunoco 94 right now)
