I just finished a year of 55 miles one way Tarrytown NY to Morristown NJ last year and it was a burden. Plus, my work origintaed with people on the Left Coast, so while I had to be in at 9:00 sharp, my day usually went on until 8:00pm and then I had to drive another hour to get home. And thats before accidents, snow and asshats trying to jump off the TZ bridge (a three and a half hour delay one night - and there were only six cars in front of me when they stopped traffic). It could have been worse, some make that commute in the reverse - facing the rising/setting sun each way.
You have to weigh your personal needs against the financial gain/leverage on your career. But it takes its toll in time, your personal interests and health. Plus it ruined my 92 900S, the car rides like crap after a year of 75mph commuting. I'm back to an easy 20 minutes suburban sprint and coast now.
