Way OT... Break Up Dead Car? / Sell Parts on E-Bay? Posted by EGD [Email] (#663) [Profile/Gallery] (more from EGD) on Thu, 27 May 2004 22:16:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I now have a non-running '96 Ford Contour SE (thank God it's not '01 9-3 SE that died!). I've heard that people are breaking up used cars to sell the parts (power window motors, fenders, etc.) on E-Bay. Just wondering if anyone has done this and whether or not it's worth the trouble. Also, how would I dispose of the carcass once it's been picked clean? Scrap steel?
Another option for getting rid of the car is a vehicle donation which might net me about $700 in tax savings. Dealer trade-in is not possible in it's current condition, and it will cost about $1500 just to get it running properly to drive it to a dealer.
Thanks.
