I'm not a fan of leases, although they would work for me: I don't commute (home office) and fit easily under the mileage requirements.
While they let you get more car for less, I think it's the same as renting instead of buying your home. The money is gone-gone-gone.
A car is a deprectiating asset, but most things you buy are (except housing). I have looked at leasing over and over for several years and can't make it work. It means you commit to car payments forever, and there are better ways to spend your hard-earned money, IMHO. I love having a decent car and no payments.
I buy a good , solid used car with a warranty, try to set a little aside to help with repairs and stuff not under the warranty (tires, brakes, exhaust, etc), and it works well. My wife and I tend to keep cars until they drop and this is a very economical way to do it. And we get what we like to begin with, so there is little compromise.
Not to offend anyone, but unless your lease can be entirely written off for business, I think leases are a lousy way to "buy" a car.
