Hello, everyone. Over the course of the past few weeks, my NG900 has been causing me to have concerns regarding a few issues. First, there was a matter dealing with the A/C (link posted below...also contains link to original posting). On another note, the car would shake quite a bit upon braking lightly. This has gotten worse over the past couple of weeks. Finally, shifting has felt pretty smooth and I haven't had many complaints. Last week, I put the car in reverse and turned it off. When I let off the cluth, the car started rolling backwards, as if it wasn't even in gear. The clutch has also felt fine in the past.
I took my car in to Saab Shop late last week to have them look at the A/C. They determined that the radiator fan was not coming on and that was the source of my problems. I'm not exactly sure that replacing the fan will fix all of the issues I have been having in relation to the A/C, but I trust these guys know what they are doing.
Saab Shop also said that my front rotors definitely would need replacing. I was hoping to wait a little longer, save up some money, and get cross-drilled rotors, but the shaking is getting pretty bad. I told them to go ahead and replace the front rotors.
They also said that my clutch cable needed replaced because the mounting point had broken. I'm a little unfamiliar with this, but I believe what they say. I've never owned or driven a NG900 prior to this one, so it may feel like something is wrong when clutching/shifting...I just didn't know it.
I have all the respect in the world for Saab Shop and I whole-heartedly trust those guys. I'm just wanting some reassurance that the work being performed is necessary and will probably fix all of my issues. I've included all of the prices below for reference. Did I do the right thing? I realize I could have posted this on the NG900 BB, but I thought I would get some generic feedback in regard to service experience from here, too. Thanks in advance for any input. Drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
Used radiator fan ($200)
Labor for radiator fan replacement ($45)
Clutch cable ($53)
Labor for clutch cable replacement ($90)
Rotors ($106/pair)
Labor for rotor replacement ($30)
Saab Shop charges $60/hour for labor. I know I could have probably done all of these myself, as I am fairly competent in DIY repairs, but I'm pretty booked these next couple of weeks. Besides, it's nice to know that the job was done correctly. I'll be picking the car up tomorrow...I hope it all turns out well.
