Hello, everyone. I am very happy to report that the A/C issue on my NG900 has been resolved...so far so good, anyway. I now have a question regarding a dispute with a repair shop in Chicago (Libertyville). In order to get a fairly decent grasp of the situation, I'll give a brief history.
About 2 months ago, I purchased my NG900 from a gentleman in Chicago. Prior to purchase, I was notified that the car had a slight A/C leak and that the system had not been charged for this year's summer season (the previous owner just recharged the system every year...not a big deal). I requested that the A/C leak be repaired prior to purchase, however. For reference, I paid for the repairs myself by adding the amount to the purchase price of the car. Kar Care of Libertyville replaced the expansion valve and recharged the system, in addition to a few smaller things. The final bill was in excess of $870.
One month later, the A/C was blowing warm air, a hissing sound was coming from the passenger side of the car, and it continually got worse every day. Reluctantly, I took the car in to Saab Shop to have the problem resolved. They diagnosed a bad expansion valve and radiator fan. They replaced the expansion valve ($105.85 + $60 labor), the radiator fan ($200 + $45 labor), and recharged the system ($36 + $60 labor).
My question is this...is there any way I can make the shop in Chicago (Libertyville) either refund me the money for the expansion valve and labor or pay for the new expansion valve and labor? If so, what would be the best way to go about this? One way or the other, I plan on at least pursuing it...after all, it never hurts to ask. Any comments, suggestions, advice, or ideas are greatly appreciated.
As a point of reference, the work done prior to purchase was done under the name of the previous owner and the work done at Saab Shop was performed under my name. Would I need the previous owner to contact the shop in Chicago (Libertyville) or am I just heading toward unsanitary tributation without proper motivation (up a creek without a paddle)? Thanks so much in advance for whatever help you may offer and/or provide. Drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
