I have a 1996 900Se that has a similar problem. Slow leaker that needs a small shot of r-134 every summer also. Why didn't you take the car back to the original place that fixed it? I would of called them on the repairs, but who knows, them may have throw more parts and labor at it and maybe you would have been back a few more times. And why did the saab shop replace a month old expanion valve? Was it bad? Did the first shop really fix the car? Was the saab shop aware that the exp. valve was one month old? Why did the first shop not replace the fan if it was faulty? Sorry to ask so many questions, but by having the car fixed a month after the repairs at another shop makes it really hard IMHO to go back to the first palce after having it fixed at another shop. Surely just my opinion, and I know how you feel, the 96 900 A/C has known faults and it seems it never works only when you really need it. Maybe take the repair bill from the saab shop back to the first place and see what they say.
good luck,
Ko
