I too live in Boston but I am from Richmond and 84-81 is the only way I go to and from home now. 95 is just not worth the pain and the ride is terrible...too much traffic, too many tolls, too many construction zones, too many dirty reststops.
I leave Richmond and go out 64 and pick up 81. As everyone else has said, the ride is much easier, more scenic and just more enjoyable. The time spent in traffic is much more taxing on a person than if your wheels are rolling at 65mph or whatever speed you drive.
I don't know why mapquest would put you on 95 anyway. 81 runs right through the park right?
The only thing I miss about 95 is watching planes land/takeoff from Newark airport as I drive by.
