You should try to stay in the ropongi area of Tokyo. there is a lot of english spoken there, many clubs, and hard rock cafe. Try to take a city tour, it was kinda boring, but i found places that i wanted to go back to because of the tour. You MUST take the Mount Fuji-Hikone tour, it will last all day and you take a bullet train back to Tokyo, order the chicken instaed of salmon for lunch. Hotel Okura is where i set up my tour, they speak perfect english. You should visit the Toyota HQ in the Odaiba area of tokyo. I know its not saab, but it is like Toyota Disney. They have concept, classic, and all the current toyota models. You can drive any one of a long list of cars (manuel & automatic) on their driving course. there is a auto history musium , and a design studio. Best of all there are no dealers in sight to bother you. Get an international drivers licence before you go (AAA no test, just $20).
Sorry i cant tell you about nightly rates, as i am staying at my aunts appartment.
A couple words of advice: Take Dramomine before taking a city/airport bus. when hailing a taxi, do not open the door, the driver pushes a button and it opens and closes by itself. do not push random buttons on the toilets (it sprayed water up my...) There is no tipping anywhere, a waiter will chase you halfway arround the block with your change if you give more money than the meal cost. MOST subway lines have english. Japan has no concept of queueing, if there is any space betwen you and the person in front of you, somebody will take up that space. 4'2" old ladies rule the place, you'll see.
Have Fun
