I've dealt with a LOT of recruiters while looking for other employment. I have not come across one who seems on-the-ball. One recruiter who claimed to specialize in placing engineers was asking *me* what "injection molded plastic" meant!?!?!
I'm sorry, but it seems that being a recruiter is the easiest, best paying job that tolerates incompetence... aside from being a CEO. I'll bet that someone could develop a software package to do the same thing a recruiter does... scan through documents to word-match resume and job description. Oh wait... some companies already have that on their career websites!
Best of luck - JMJ

BTW - I'm a senior mechanical engineer at a central NJ medical device company, looking for employment in Jacksonville, FL. My wife and I are in mid-process of buying a house there.
