An older 9000 heh? Often you can get a private owner to run a car over to a third party inspector, the dealer or an agreed local indy. Same if the car is at a small dealer or used car lot. Often you can just discuss the service history of the car with whomever has been taking care of it.
It's possible to send gobs of detailed pictures via the internet for a visual inspection.
With this many protections you could buy and have a car shipped, but you might wanna' pick up the car in person. A "physical delivery" at the dealer will make dealers happier. Shipping cars makes dealers nervous, not all, but some, as the laws don't give the dealer as much protection. An older 9000 is gonna' be "AS IS" anyway. You can generally fly and drive for less than the cost of shipping. Road trip anyone?
You can always get the VIN and info on the car and submit it to your lender. Credit unions are the most favorable lenders for older cars like 9000's. Lenders whose primary business is car financing like newer cars, lower miles. A credit union will also have the flexibility to give you a check for the car and trust you to register it correctly once you get home. Or take what's availible in financing where the car is at, many lenders are national and don't have geographic boudaries, that'll simplify titling if it's a different state, and re-finance and re-register it when you get home.
