$200 buys very little or nothing new.
I would haunt some better vacuum cleaner shops and explain your needs. You are looking for a decent machine that they have cleaned and installed new bearings in, perhaps new brushes too. That will make the base unit about as good as new. If an upright, the beater bar/brush and its bearings could be renewed. Ditto for a power head on a canister type. I would not go with a canister without a powerhead. For oriental carpets or carpets with fringes, beater bars should be used with care or not at all. For hard floors, a canister type with a hard floor attachment is needed. A canister type will be good for cleaning the Saab too.
So you are after someones trade in. A good shop will be interested in making you happy with the expectation of a repeat sale in the future.
There might be factory refurbs too, which should be find and warrantied. But those should be over $200 as well.
Estate and some garage sales can be good. You can refurb bearings and brushes yourself as well.
