lens. Some telephoto lens with a long focal length used to have a mirror/lens combo so that would be a close cousin to a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. A well put together camera lens does not need much alignment when things are put back together but not for a telescope of the size Michael P. mentioned. The secondary mirror has built in adjustments so it has to be re-align after it is taken apart.
Coating on a lens is actually quite durable and can be cleaned easily. However, the aluminized surface on a telescope mirror would need special attention as it may not have a protective coating on it. You could think of the mirror surface as the headlight reflecting surface, you don't want to put much force in cleaning it.
