Saab dealer? CPO? Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Thu, 9 Sep 2004 06:02:09 In Reply to: Priced a little shady.....negotiating an Aero, Carolyn, Wed, 8 Sep 2004 14:59:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
As VTSaab notes, that's a CPO price. If this isn't a Saab dealer, then there is no extended warranty. You've got 8K miles and who knows how many months left of warranty.
If it is a CPO car, it looks a little better.
As others have noted, there are a lot of cars out there. If you're in an area with a lot of dealers around, great - you can pick and choose. If you're in an area with few, then life is tougher.
The dealer will either sell the car to you or not. If he thinks he can sell it for more to someone else, well, great - that's his perogative. If you're uncomfortable with the price, offer what you think is reasonable, and leave it with him. He'll either sell it to you for a reasonable price, or he'll sell it to someone else for what you consider an unreasonable price. One way you get a car for a good price, the other you avoid a bad deal.
Don't get caught up in the 'gotta do it' mentality. Another car will come along - heck, '02s are on the horizon. You want a good deal, wait for one. Saab made of lot of them - this isn't a one-of-a kind.
And you'd be surprised - I've bought a few cars by leaving the owner with what I considered a reasonable offer and walking away. I get a call a few days later. In a few cases, the cars were sold to someone that would pay more. As they say, one born every minute.
