I rented a 9-5 Aero wagon (automatic) over there two summers ago, from Avis. Warning, the 9-5 Aero is the top of the line car they rent, so it's pricey. You can also get a regular 9-5 with a stick shift if you want.
Driving there is great. Everything's pretty similar to how it is here, except that the courtesy of the other driver's is amazing. People pass all over the place and the passees actually pull over a bit to give you plenty of room, people in the oncoming lanes do the same. Great fun.
If you'll be travelling around, this would be a good move. If you're just gonna sightsee in Stockholm or something then there's no need for a car.
