When looking around at used/CPO Saabs, I saw a wide range of quality. Some dealers had cars in miserable condition, not even cleaned up. Other dealers had immaculate cars. And the price difference was minimal, if any.

If dealers are putting crap on the lot, and asking a lot of money, then either they're selling the crap or they're laundering money for the mob. Since they all can't be money launderers, I suspect one of two things - either they're getting their asking prices, or they discount when folks bargain. And since a surprising large number of folks don't bargain, the dealers make the profit.

Hey, if you're selling something for a living, why wouldn't you try and get as much money as possible for something that cost you as little as possible?

If you don't like what you see, about all you can do is vote with your feet and find a dealer with quality product at a reasonable price. If folks want to sell crap, it's their American right to do so, at whatever price they wish.
