there are a lot of moving parts here. German workers' willingness to strike could come back to haunt them, but GM will make the decision of broader issues, such as overall costs of manufacturing and flexibility of the facility to handle future models, expansion, etc.
What would be interesting is if German or Swedish workers were willing to make concessions in healthcare, vacation time, etc. I recall reading something earlier this year about how some Euro countries, Germany among them, is having to adjust their traditional rules about vacation time , health coverage, etc., because they cannot compete as effectively with other countries, especially places like Spain and the eastern European nations.
I do wonder how long it will be before Saabs are made in North America.
