Just turn off the fuel and let it run into it stops running. A full tank with some gas stabilizer would help on condensation too.
Personally, I just leave it for the winter. Works fine but I use it up until late Nov and also use it the first week of March. I get strange looks in March when I'm out there but a head-start on the lawn in spring is HUGE.
