Two choices, in my opinion... Posted by Clay McNeely [Email] (#497) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Clay McNeely) on Wed, 1 Dec 2004 14:17:58 In Reply to: Best Saab for $3500?, Dan in NY, Wed, 1 Dec 2004 13:10:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If I was in your situation and I had $3,500 to spend on a Saab, I would get one of two things.
1) C900 - I would personally go for a 1990-1993 turbo coupe, but you may be a convertible man, in which case you could get something from 1990-1994. Then there's the option of the sedan. Regardless, go for a turbo, good history, and a 5-speed tranny. Be sure you have a little money for upkeep, repairs, and any other issues that need to be addressed at time of purchase.
2) Sonett - this choice is definitely the way to go if you are looking for a fun project and you won't be using the car as a daily driver. You can either find a Sonett in good shape for that amount of money, or you can find a good little project Sonett and spend the rest of the money on fixing it up and having fun with it. I would only go for the Sonett if you consider this "fun money".
Some will undoubtedly recommend getting a 9000. That may be a good choice, but I simply don't have any experience with them. The same goes for a 99. Regardless, good luck in your search and have fun adding another member to the family. Drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
